Distinctive Unit Insignia


Description/Blazon
A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Azure, a lozenge Or charged with a lightning flash Gules, a bordure Argent (Silver Gray). Attached above and below the device, two black scrolls doubled and inscribed "PACIFIC" above and "PAYMASTERS" below in Silver letters.

Symbolism
Golden yellow and silver gray are the colors traditionally associated with the Finance Corps. The lozenge is adapted from the Finance Corps insignia. The border and blue escutcheon symbolize the Pacific Rim and ocean highlighting the unit's area of operation. The lightning bolt denotes quick response and alludes to the organization's association with the 25th Infantry Division. Black represents solvency and strength.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 3 May 1994. The insignia was cancelled effective 16 October 2007, when the Battalion was redesignated to a Company.
